My Liquid Gold Smoothie Recipe | Solluna by Kimberly Snyder (2024)

I want to share my easy but super beautifying Liquid Gold Smoothie with you, I’ve made often, while visiting Puerto Rico.

It’s packed with tons of beautifying minerals, vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants and amino acids. It gives me a lot of energy….to do yoga and climb up waterfalls to get behind the actual falls, (like I just came back from doing!)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut water or unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 Tbs. bee pollen more or less, adjust for you and be sure to only try a tiny bit first if you are new
  • 1 cup chopped ripe banana

Tried this recipe?Let us know how it was on Instagram!

*NOTE: Bee pollen is not typically recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing as it can be a raw product . Also, if you have never tried bee pollen, it is very important that you start with a very small amount – like ¼ teaspoon – and build up from there to be certain that you don’t have an allergic reaction to it. If you experience any swelling of the tongue or shortness of breath, discontinue immediately and call emergency assistance / consult your doctor. If you are allergic to pollen, you should avoid bee pollen!

(That being said, I will say that I enjoyed bee pollen for years, and personally feel comfortable having it during my pregnancy. That is just my personal choice. But it is one of the “raw” foods that is not formally recommended, so please note that disclaimer if you are pregnant and nursing. If you want to be on the safe side, you can avoid it for the pregnancy/nursing period).

Happy Blending!

Love,

Kimberly

Hi Kimberly! This is by far the easiest smoothie to make, ever! Thank you! I have a question though ?
I have been drinking a lot of coconut water and noticed that my body is not reacting very well to it (because I’ve been drinking it almost every day for about almost 2 weeks). And it is difficult to purchase almond milk off the shelves, from where I am. I was just wondering what are your thoughts on substituting with other types of milk, like rice milk or soy milk? Thank you!

Hi Gerry, and thanks for your great question…Soy contains isoflavones, specifically genistein and daidzein. These are estrogen-like substances that have the same effect in the body as estrogen. When we eat lots of soy we can become estrogenic, which contributes to such problems as cancer, irritability and mood swings, fat gain around the waist, hips and thighs, fibrocystic breast disease and uterine fibroids. Try to find hemp milk and if you feel real industrious, try making your own almond milk. Here’s a link to my recipe: https://bit.ly/2fmCP46 Sending lots of love! ;)

    Hi Kimberly!
I am 36 weeks pregnant and wanting to begin taking bee pollen again – I used it daily pre pregnancy but was scared off it during my pregnancy reading negative comments about it being raw food. What’s your opinion about slowly introducing small amounts again now? Thanks! Mardi

Hi Mardi and congrats! I strongly encourage you to consult your Health Care Practitioner regarding introducing bee pollen back into your diet. We all absorb and digest our foods so differently and you will want to ensure that you’re getting the advice for your personal health and well-being. Sending lots of love and wishing you a healthy delivery. ;)

Hi Wendy and thanks for your great question…I would save the bee pollen for later in the day, with one of my other smoothie options. The GGS is all about making digestion easy on your gut and keeping it as clean as possible, without any added burdens first thing in the morning. Bee pollen is great for energy in our afternoon snacks. Happy blending and sending lots of love! ;)

Hi Nancy! Your local health food store or Whole Foods should carry bee pollen. If not, you should be able to find it online! Happy blending xx
